HEY! CÉRAMIQUE.S Guest Curator: Anne Richard (Founder and exhibition curator for HEY! modern art & pop culture) Musée de la Halle Saint Pierre, Paris, France Both deeply invested in exploring the alternative cultural scene, La Halle Saint Pierre and HEY! modern art & pop culture continue their long and close collaboration with a sixth exhibition which is entirely dedicated to ceramics. While this medium is becoming more and more visible on the international art scene, HEY! CÉRAMIQUE.S shows different forms of ceramics which, from pop culture to art brut, break free fom the dominant norms and discourses in surprising ways, tapping into vital forces of imagination and sensitivity. Wise or delirious, savage or sophisticated, expressionist or narrative, whether they wield humor or emotion, these ceramic sculptures touch the limits of excess while conveying poetry and innovation. HEY! CÉRAMIQUE.S brings together 34 artists from 13 countries, each contributing in their own way to the revitalization of ceramics. It's no longer a question of specific artistic practices or their marginalization, nor of the tension between artwork and craftwork. The extraordinary plasticity of the medium nourishes the imagination of artists and encourages the metamorphosis of traditional 'fine ceramics'. In partnership with the Bernardaud Foundation for the presentation of works by Christina Bothwell, Yurim Gough, Crystal Morey and Mara Superior.
