Madame -> Shopaholic

This Madame is so full of self-confidence and arrogance that I imagined this woman who has been a shopping and has dropped into a shoe shop and is sitting in a cobalt blue velvet sofa, just waiting a moment to rest her eyes while she is waiting to try on new shoes.

Binary

Binary is shaped into two concave breasts, or buttocks, with the artwork highlighting these feminine body parts so hyper-sensualised by modern ideals of beauty and fashion.

STOP worrying

I make my ceramic bowls by hand pinching, so sometimes the thinnest part can develop a crack. However, for me it is just a crack that I can treat, and care for to save my drawing. So this bowl newly injected with love was collected by Richard Howard.

Heart chakra -> Ego

One day, I drew a model with a pendant necklace at a life drawing session. After a few days, I found that the pendant was still in my head. I looked for a meaning and discovered it was the pattern of a heart chakra. I was learning Kundalini yoga in the middle of the day, and all of these things became one story and I have drawn seven chakras. We have different faces, but we have all seen that they all have the appearance of a Buddha.

Necklaces -> Nun

I met this life drawing model who was very shy. This woman who made mixed impressions was starting to have an uncomfortable feeling. But there was a moment when her features changed to confidence. What made her be confident? When I drew her she was wearing a lot of necklaces with crucifix pendants ... it brought me to an imaginary world.

6 Words for Love

This vase will be part of a 6-piece set, each with a different number of faces. This will be the no. 6 vase (with 6 faces) and is about love.

This vase shows my 6 different loves: love of the self/ playful love/ deep friendship/ sexual passion/ longstanding love/ love for everyone.

Beautiful inside out

I am not afraid to draw lots of lines on the face and body when drawing, but the drawing on the bowls doesn't become sharp until after firing with glaze. On this bowl the glazing revealed a worry on the beautiful woman's features, and I imagined a mirror on the other end of her gaze.

The un-planned lines on her face made me think of plastic surgery afterwards. She wants to be beautiful and it is not a hanging offence to want to become like that. She was already beautiful, and now nurses her outstretched arm in order to bear the pain that follows. Inside we all want our minds to be beautiful, and that as well has its own pain ...

Foot on the table -> Wonder woman

In the 80s, wonderwoman was a large-breasted icon, pretty and beautiful, young and very clean skinned, with long hair. I wanted to show this woman nowadays as a 21st century wonderwoman. She's not pretty but she is good and strong-minded and cares like a mother. So it's like a new modern Maria.
